*merge tables of pets
**ensure locations of pets are in table

Baby Pets (also known as All Class Pets) are pets that any character from any class can have. Normally only the [[Venomancer]]s can have pets at their side, but with these special pets every one can have a side kick to join their adventures in Perfect World International. The only catch, of course, is that these pets are for display purposes only. Venomancers use their pets in battle. Their pets participate in attacking and protecting their owner. They level up with their owner and require feeding.

Baby pets have none of those characteristics. They are just for show so you don't need to feed them and they will only follow you around as you run or fly around. An important thing to note is that ground baby pets can not follow you if you are flying (so they will stow) and air baby pets can not be summoned in a dungeon (due to the height limit).
merge notes:
*ticked items off todo - thanks Sangodoc for NPC coords updates
*moved info to table
*fiddled with table formatting
ramblings:
*might want to change the wording when talking about mystics. their summons aren't true pets. summons are controlled in battle in the same way, but that's really the only way they're the same. but then, it's probably fine as is. just the part about summoning/stowing a pet (pet bag) doesn't work with mystics. at the moment it feels awkward to me, but maybe i just need a coffee.

Baby pets are divided into a few subclasses:
merge notes:
*'''Common Baby Pets.''' These can be made from normal mobs found around Perfect World.
*played with the table formatting
*'''Rare Baby Pets.''' These are made from [[Rare Pet Taming Guide|Rare Pet]] mobs around Perfect World.
**one table with borders on and differing rows looked off - one other thing to try
*'''Marriage Quest Pets.''' - These pets can only be obtained by completing Marriage Quests.
**temporarily using dashes as a hax hr to separate entries, although i'm sure this looks dumb on any other browser besides what i'm using now -- will be fixed, just using it for visual reference for the time being
*'''Special Pets.''' - These pets are obtained through events and/or special packs usually obtained through the boutique.
*added pup info

==How to Create a Baby Pet==
merge notes:
*moved all of the pets on this page into new table
*verified data against other page to be merged
*removed locations table, as that is now part of the pet list
*altered wording: classes of pets -> ways to obtain
*added table entry for Sage Baby Tiger pet (Tiger Event trade in reward) as template for adding information
**fixme tag should be placed at the top of the page on merge complete to add in other pets- mq/event/box/etc

Unfortunately the eggs for all the baby pets can only be obtained by Venomancers. So you will either need to find a Venomancer friend who will be able to tame you some of these eggs or you can search for these eggs in the auctions and in cat shops.
TODO:

*<s>merge tables of pets</s>
Once you have all the eggs that you require (check the listings below for this information) you will need to go to Mrs. Zoologist to combine your pet eggs.
**<s>enter in info for all pets into combined table</s>

**<s>ensure locations of pets are in table</s>
Double-click on her to speak to her and then select the Pet Trade option. This will bring up the list of all the pets that you can manufacture. Each pet will require a different number of eggs and a manufacturing fee. She doesn't mention the manufacturing fee but Rare Baby Pets cost 100,000 coins to make and Common Baby Pets cost 200,000 coins to make.
**<s>maybe put the cost of manufacturing a pet into the table</s> and rewording that info above

**<s>maybe put respawn times for some of the not-so-rare pets (30 minutes for the frost and whatever the other one is antelopes, which aren't really considered rare)</s> - just sticking in all respawn times where relevant; one less click for the user and makes for a more uniform table
Once you have combined your pet you need to see a Pet Manager, which can be found in each major city, to talk to her and select the Hatch Pet option. Place the pet egg in the slot and hatch it, make sure you have at least one empty slot in your pet bag to hatch your pet. Once hatched you can bring up your pet bag (click the P button on your keyboard) and summon your pet for it to appear (click the ''Call'' button in the pet bag). To stow your pet you can simply slick the ''Stow'' button in the pet bag. For faster access you can also drag the icon of your pet from your pet bag and add it to your quick shots. This will allow you to simply click the icon to summon and stow. New in the Genesis expansion, you can switch to a different pet without stowing the first. As mounts behave as pets, summoning a mount will stow any pet you currently have out.
**<s>pet level to be with pet</s>

**<s>maybe have two columns for this table -- first column with the baby pet which row-spans the others; second column the "mat" pets required to make the baby and their associated information</s>
The Pet Manager can be found at the following locations:
*<s>info for the baby pets that can't be manufactured via Mrs. Z. -- MQ, divine tiger cubs, boxes (blue nix, dalmation) etc.</s> this is beyond the scope of the merge. table entry format is in place. fixme tag will replace merge tag on merge complete.

'''Tip:''' You'll notice that above your pet's body will be its mob name (for example Baby Bear or Baby Cuddly Pup). You can change this by purchasing a pet collar from Mrs. Zoologist (click the Pet Trade option) which costs 10,000 coins. Once you have the collar talk to Mrs. Zoologist and click the Rename Pet option. This will bring up the Rename Pet option and your pet bag. Drag the icon of the pet you want to rename to the Rename Pet box and type in the new name you want to give it (up to eight characters in length). Once you're done click Change Name and viola your pet will now have the given name over top of it next time you spawn it. Note that you cannot rename a pet if it is summoned so make sure to stow your pet before you rename it.

'''Note:''' There are sample pets that hang out with Mrs. Zoologist. You can kill them but Mrs. Zoologist will not be happy and will attack you for a nice big chunk of your hit points (your HP charm might click depending on your level).

==Pet Locations==
Here you will find a list of general locations where you can find the pets required to make the all class eggs. Please keep in mind that the spots for rare pets are exact however these pets only spawn at specific times and the coordinates for the normal pets are for a general location where these mobs can be found. The pet level denotes the minimum level of the Venomancer that will be required to tame these pets. All class pets themselves are level 1 however the eggs for the all class pets vary in level.

Nice guide, Can I insert a link to my "Rare Pet Taming Guide"?? :3 Jollyjaguar 08:19, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Of course go right ahead ^^ a good place for it would be right under the rare baby pet header --Atheeni 13:32, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Merge Notes[edit]

Merge to start below the HR. Killed the banner. --Flyingsoloist 17:04, 9 August 2011 (PDT)

Merge notes:

  • minor grammar/formatting/nomenclature fixes in intro
  • added, formatted classes of pets for newer additions
  • "despawn" -> "stow" in various places...since that's what it is...
  • added note on genesis expansion summon-to-stow feature
  • added length restriction on renaming pets
  • verified info from Baby Pets sections intro, how to get, and renaming is included
  • moved link for Rare Pet Taming Guide
  • added TODO list below
  • removed intro "title"
  • added Venomancer link

--Flyingsoloist 17:31, 15 August 2011 (PDT)

merge notes:

  • renamed section to pet list
    • it's probably better in the long run to put these all in one list as pet packs can/have been introduced which add new ways to get old pets
    • next to each pet should be the means to acquire it- crafting via eggs, list of boxes, trade in at mail box, MQ, etc.
  • started table for merging pets
    • still need to play around with formatting
    • text fields should be aligned - titles centered, info left-justified
    • might move the pet icon to the right side of the table and anchor it in it's own cell; might help the balance - will have to try/look at it later
    • need to look into vertical spacing. hares are made from one type of egg, bears from two. this may become an issue when entering foxwings/antelopes. concerned about spread out fields vs. squished fields & over all look and feel.
  • image backgrounds are the same as the current background of the page, meaning the table background is locked at that color
    • might look into getting gifs with transparent backgrounds so that if/when the style of the wiki changes, the tables can fit the new theme.
    • or might just go with black. nearly everything looks good on black.

--Flyingsoloist 10:52, 16 August 2011 (PDT)

note to self:

  • merged table needs section for pet coords - expand to 4th spanned column

--Flyingsoloist 10:55, 16 August 2011 (PDT)

merge notes:

  • ticked items off todo - thanks Sangodoc for NPC coords updates
  • moved info to table
  • fiddled with table formatting

ramblings:

  • might want to change the wording when talking about mystics. their summons aren't true pets. summons are controlled in battle in the same way, but that's really the only way they're the same. but then, it's probably fine as is. just the part about summoning/stowing a pet (pet bag) doesn't work with mystics. at the moment it feels awkward to me, but maybe i just need a coffee.

  • added pup info

--Flyingsoloist 14:22, 17 August 2011 (PDT)

merge notes:

  • moved all of the pets on this page into new table
  • verified data against other page to be merged
  • removed locations table, as that is now part of the pet list
  • altered wording: classes of pets -> ways to obtain
  • added table entry for Sage Baby Tiger pet (Tiger Event trade in reward) as template for adding information
    • fixme tag should be placed at the top of the page on merge complete to add in other pets- mq/event/box/etc
