Can I have a pet?[edit]
Are you a Venomancer? If so, then yes - having a pet is what your class is all about. Follow your early quests, and you'll be taught all about how to summon and use pets. Venomancer pets are obtainable for free, though some are difficult to get and so people charge for them. Make sure you do not accidentally buy an 'all class' pet - those won't fight.
If you're not a Venomancer - then no, you cannot have a fighting pet. Pets are not for you. The best you can do is have an all-class pet, which only follows you around to look pretty. See the Baby Pet Guide. They cost hundreds of thousands of coin.
For completeness, I will note that Ground mounts also use the pet system - take up space in your pet bag, need to be fed etc. However they don't fight for you, only provide you with a means of faster transportation. Mounts cost millions of coin.
Mystics get to use spells which work much like a pet in many ways. However, they does not use the pet bag and are not, strictly speaking, pets.
