Visit the Auction House by going to any NPC named "Auctioneer", there's at least one in each major city.

The Auction House allows players to sell items to each other.

Sellers set a minimum bid, and a duration (8, 16 or 24 hours) - and optionally a 'buy it now' price. Buyers can filter by item type and bid on the items, or elect to pay the buy price.

Sellers pay an up-front cost. If the items doesn't sell, then half of this cost is refunded. If the item does sell then they also have to pay a commission, which is taken out of the sale price.

Buyers pay exactly what they bid. Coins are taken immediately, but will be refunded if you are outbid.

If a bid is made near the end of the auction time, then the remaining time is extended to 20 minutes. This is to prevent bid-sniping; however the auction will only extend a limited umber of times.

When your item sells, fails to sell, you are outbid or you win the auction, you are notified by in-game mail (and the items and coin arrive this way too)

Not all items can be traded via the auction house.

The auction house is also where you go to buy Gold with in-game coin. (See: Gold trading)
