Information for the wiki you'd like added

If there's anything you'd like my help adding to the wiki, either add a short description of it to this section, or, if it might require some discussion, use the "+" link at the top to create a new section for it. Please link to any information needed to create the section you want added, as that will make it much easier for me to add. Finally, please sign your comment by putting a "~~~~" at the end of your comment. Thanks! -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 01:26, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Eatwithspoons Discussions

oh for those talk pages you can straight edit the page and delete the comment, as long as it's spam no worries --Eatwithspoons 22:14, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

I took care of it thanks. Also, I think you suggested addons? We're working on getting a few added in for us real soon --Eatwithspoons 19:47, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Alright I took care of it, thanks a bunch! Hopefully one of our addons that we plan to implement will help with this kind of thing. --Eatwithspoons 00:42, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

I've put in a request for this so right now I'm waiting to see when it will be implemented. --Eatwithspoons 22:46, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Upon your request

I have returned the Human 1-19 quests to its normal state. --Ctrlotus 03:19, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Not a problem! I thought i would improve the wiki, actually. It would make transfering from other, non-pwe game wikis easier, because i haven't seen a single wiki besides PWE's use this format. EDIT: What improvements would you suggest for me to make the quest section less of a WoT? --Ctrlotus 03:38, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
For some things, such as the quests, you could try "click to show" boxes. That would shorten the text walls, and allow for aditional info on things, like what type spell to use, or warn of exceptionally hard mobs to kill for that level. A good example of this would be the Elemental Tapestry, lever 36 if I remember correctly--Ctrlotus 05:50, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Article links

You said to use links to other articles in the format "Article Name" or "text you want to appear", and not "Name" But isn't http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Talk_page and http://www.pwdatabase.com/mob/1379 outside links? I'm not sure where I used that since you apparently removed it before I could make any corrections. Is there any reason why I can not link to those pages. The reason I wrote this is I could not seem to find any information about or links to the User and User Talk pages. These methods where not known to me and I can see why some people would be lost trying to figure how the simplest in the WIKI system works. I found many elaborate and extensive formatting methods but it has been years since I have done any programming at all. Your really quick on the draw with new input. --Ctstew 04:00, 3 October 2010 (UTC) ,user talk:ctstew

I understand about the difference between an external link and an internal link. In the case of the cloud skatefish I wanted to identify that it was a link, as it is now you can not tell easily that the word is a link and so not many will follow to view the detailed information. Do you have a standard way that the link can be identified when using double brackets for an internal link?
And is there a template page for the pet detail page?
Also I think that the "Pet Skills" page and "Ultimate Pet List" page should be merged. How do I request this and what is the process for doing it? I'm sure that I should not just do the merge myself or can I?
--Ctstew 18:03, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Wiki Style

The current color scheme of the wiki looks like piss over shit and is hard to read. Are you able to update the style to match the forum and make it so the links are differentiated from the text? Asterelle 18:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

PWI Wiki - Guilds

Well then why don't you actually do your job?

65% of you heaven's tears guilds listed, ARE NOT IN EXISTANCE any more.

25% are out dated - different leaders or website gone.

the remaining 10% are factions that are not on Heavens Tear.

Besides, what is the purpose of having a number for a link?

Why not just show the whole link?

Do you think you are impressing us? You aren't. -- Kyrrel 21:59, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

First of all, it is not my job to keep track of every faction that is listed on those pages on every server. I don't know where you got the impression that that was my job, but that is false.
Second of all, if you have evidence that those factions are not in existence, changed leaders, or are listed incorrectly, anyone can update them. As a side note, I would rather have a nonexistent faction be listed, than accidentally remove an existing faction that has merely downsized or changed websites.
Third, your first four points have nothing to do with what I wrote to you earlier. You didn't do anything about those problems either, when it is fully within your power to do so. Furthermore, I did not create those lists, nor do I maintain them in any other way that making sure that they follow a common format and that they are not vandalized.
Fourth, I didn't say that you couldn't show the whole link, I just said that I wanted the Guild Directory pages done in a standard way. Your edit where you unnecessarily added "Server:" to every listing was prior to your removing the brackets around the links, so that's why it and all following revisions got undone. If you think we should change it that way, then, as I stated earlier, I'm open to hearing your reasons why, I just don't see the difference. You say, "Why not?", but I asked "Why?" first. If your reason sounds good, then all Guild Directories should be changed the same way, and not just one of them.
Finally, there is no need to be insulting. It doesn't make what you say any more valid. If you have constructive criticism I'm more than happy to listen to that, but I won't waste my time listening to empty insults. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 22:36, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Mob/Pet Bio Pages

Thanks for making the corrections separating the mob stats from the pet stats. I realized this after uploading the page but was unsure about which stats belonged to the pre-pet state of the creature. After making some adjustments I will use your input as a reference in making the other pages.

Also, I would like to add the creature bio page as a template once I have the format a little more settled. I would like your input about his since it would be used as a standard bio page.

Also, I agree that a better way is needed in identifying text links and wondered if using a colored caret symbol after the text
Such as: Cloud Skatefish^
as a text link indicator would be better than coloring the whole text?

Well I just couldn't wait so I made "Template Pages" as an index page and a template page: "Monster and Pet Bio Template". I also changed the Cloud Skatefish bio page using the info that you provided. I hope this is satisfactory.

In response to your corrections and input to my recent work:

I think this is where I should make my replies??

Oh, SORRY about deleting my previous discussion on your talk page I didn't think about it until after. My Bad!

Ok, I screwed up making the Template page.
I look all over for information about how to make a template page but did not find the information that you gave me, just example pages. If I did see one it was not explained so I knew what it was and how to use it. I see how this would be the perfect way to protect the original Template. Would a template page be locked? So how would one go about using my template with such extensive information to input? How would the Monster and Pet Bio Template page work, cut & paste? It's not like a form with fields, would someone input there values and a new page would be configured using those new values? Then would have to "save as" (the page that you want)?
I guess that I could still use the Template Page index page as the link for these pages, right?
How about an Example page, so someone like me doesn't input the wrong values like I did when I mixed the monster and pet stats? I'm trying to avoid some of these possible input errors.

About the Monster and Pet Bio page Magic Defense table:
I added the "Non Elemental" column because some monsters do not have an elemental base so I guess the Magic Defense table would be left blank or have N/A in the table fields.

About the Link identifier:
I am glad to here that you are working on the Link visibility problem. I'm not sure if I should continue to make pages until you have completed your methodology with this problem. OR will you be able to change all the page links to your new method with some wiki programming wizardry? Until I hear from you I will hold off on uploading any pages. How long do you expect before it is done?
Just want to let you know your effort, patients and guidance is appreciated. Ctstew 00:16, 17 November 2010 (UTC) User Talk

The Stubs Section

We seriously need to get a move on with these instances like Abbaddon and Seat of Torment...they've been stubbed since as long as I can remember. I'm going to try and ask my husband to go in and get some footage for me.

.-. I also noticed the Blademaster skills have been stubbed! What happened to them? --Born_Free: Harshlands 10:15, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

FB79 doors

the section on the hallucinatory trench instance states that the doors that open are opened at random. I know this has been popularly the believed, however, for a while it was also believed that the fb39 doors were opened at random too.

according to what I have seen in fbs/bhs there is a mob in the first room after the entrance room that wanders. there is also a room a little while after that hass 2 doors, one goes to stygean and one to hooli. killing the wandering mob in the first room opens the door to hooli whose kill in turn opens the door to stygean. avoiding the mob in the first room opens the door to stygean which in turn opens the door to hooli.

I will have to confirm this later but it may also be that killing the mob in the room before stygean opens the way past loon and avoiding him leave the shorter way open to the large center room on the way to linus/brig. or possible the other way around.

I think this could use some testing. I will do what I can as I get into squads but without a decent sampling it could just be chance that it works this way. --Swalsh 18:20, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case, since sometimes squads ask a sin to stealth and go look whether or not the Styg door is open. It would be easy enough to test though - have the sin stealth in and then kill everything and have the sin watch to see which kill opens the door. --Vitenka 13:14, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh, rereading your post; it certainly isn't exactly what you suggest; since yesterday I killed that wandering mob and had the door to styg be open. It's still just possibly one of the others though. --Vitenka 13:15, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Retested with a sin to watch the door. Styg door was open before we killed anything, door did not close when we killed the wanderer. Myth.. busted. --Vitenka 14:30, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Aegis Spirit

My apologies, I have tested again and was not able to reproduce what I thought were my earlier results. --Fleuri 03:36, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Status Icon Reference Guide

i was wondering you would be able to add a link to that page from the main page its almost complete, and i made a list of the skills icons it missing.

i also think it should be ordered in a different fashion than alphabetically and more of what the buffs actually do like having movement debuffs, resistance changes, attack damage speed and channeling increase, as well as decreases grouped --Furryfury 19:55, 20 February 2011 (PST)

There's already a plan in the works to get the Status Icon Reference Guide put onto the main page. If you'd like to take a look, I'm working on a new front page for the wiki here: Main Page/sandbox. That will probably go up shortly after Genesis is released. If you have any suggestions for it, please let me know.
Next, the reason why the icons are grouped alphabetically is so that if someone knows the name of the icon (by hovering their mouse over it), it will be easier to find. Any other grouping I can think of would be arbitrary and difficult to search on, not to mention that some icons would fit into multiple categories of the ones you named.
Finally, I do have the rest of the missing icons (though Genesis will probably add some new ones) and some other missing information, I just haven't gotten around to putting that up yet. I'll try to get that done soon.
If there's anything else, please let me know. Thanks! -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 22:40, 20 February 2011 (PST)

I Was wondering if you copuld upload the new icons to the "unknown icons" section so i could post more of the seeker skills. i know what the look like but i cant do much without a pic. (well i guess i could add the data but that's not exactly useful without the pic)--Furryfury 20:52, 7 March 2011 (PST)

I'll try to. I got the new ones too, it's just a pain in the butt to copy, paste, save, upload, and edit them all into the page, so it'll probably be a little while. Feel free to keep prodding me for them if I take too long. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 20:58, 7 March 2011 (PST)

Poke... *runs away*--Furryfury 16:41, 12 March 2011 (PST)
soon as your done and you remove the sign ill edit added the icons i know. :P--Furryfury 16:22, 13 March 2011 (PDT)

Heh... You posted that just seconds after I finished. Edit away now. BTW, thanks for the poke. It came at the perfect timing crossroads of bored and looking for something to do. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 16:25, 13 March 2011 (PDT)

Ok so I think i got all the seeker icons in, but i don't know how to change the names of the images at top link to the skill. the matrix is confusing me. And there are still a bunch of Mystic skills that need to have their status effects added to the list of current buff/debuffs --Furryfury 21:26, 18 March 2011 (PDT)

Main Page Update

i was wondering when main page was going to to be changed to the updated versionMain Page/sandbox its been almost 2 weeks since the release -- Furryfury 22:04, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Damned if I know. I've been begging FrankieRaye to update it for about three weeks now, including another request just yesterday. So far nothing but him asking me once where I got the seeker and mystic pics. Unfortunately I don't have the rights to update it myself or I would have a long time ago. It's really frustrating. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 15:32, 14 March 2011 (PDT)

Learn about tools for effective communication

Format is everything about delivery. You obviously need to understand more about effective delivery of content if you're going to continue reverting the red coloured text I placed in the Demon vs Sage guide. If the content is fluid in format, and there is something that sharply contrasts that format then it means that it is significant to the understanding of that content. You also fail to understand the need for white spacing as the bullets dont work on the wiki.

For your information, I will continue to be adding back the red font on the key points in large chunks of text. The bold typeface on this wiki is not distinct enough to say "bold is good enough". If any of your edits involve reverting the red font without actually contributing other points or fixes, they will be reverted - as a heads up.

Furthermore some of your changes are completely ignorant to the fact that 2 servers - Harshands and Lost City do not abide by regular Perfect world names or ancyronyms. Terms likes HH (Holy Hall) replace TT (Twilight Temple), and CV (Crescent Valley) replace LG (Lunar Glade). There is an overwhelming prescence of PW-MY players on these servers. To target these audiences one needs to include terms that they use.

Again this comes down to over-zealous and oblivious moderating of the wiki with failure to understand the readers of the content.

Removal/Redirection of Duplicate Pages

I'm still a little new to wiki editing, so I'm not quite sure how to handle this:

Yesterday after I reformatted Level 81 - 90, I came across the duplicate orphaned page Level 81-90. This second page should either be deleted or turned into a redirect to the former. Is there some sort of tag that I should put at the top of the page similar to the fixme/stub tags?

Thanks, --Flyingsoloist 09:25, 7 July 2011 (PDT)

All of the options are listed on the Templates page. You might want to use the Merge basic template if there is any information on the duplicate page that should be merged into the main page (in which case, the Merge basic tag should be put on the main page as well). If not, just use the ReqDelete template on the duplicate page, mention in the "reason" parameter that the page is a duplicate, and link to the page it duplicates. Oh, and thanks for the work you've been doing.  :-) -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 20:28, 7 July 2011 (PDT)
Awesome, thanks. Not sure how I missed the templates page. And no thanks for the work is needed. I've had a lot of time to kill lately and needed a project. @.@ --Flyingsoloist 08:36, 8 July 2011 (PDT)
