Directions
Each gate has a gatekeeper in front of it. However killing one (and opening the gate behind it) despawns the rest of the gatekeepers. Whichever gate you open, that becomes your starting path.
For the rest of the gates, you have to kill the boss in the path prior to it in clockwise order. So from wherever you begin, you have to do the paths in clockwise order from there, killing each boss. The boss order (starting at the first gate on your left as you enter) is:
- Killing Zimo opens the wood wing to Ofotis.
- Killing Ofotis opens the water wing to Qiangi.
- Killing Qianji opens the fire wing to Raving Drake Brute.
- Killing Raving Drake Brute opens the earth wing to Gluttonix.
- Killing Gluttonix opens the metal wing to Zimo.
Bosses
All of the bosses in the Valley of Disaster have ranged magical attacks of the magic type that matches their valley, and it is of the same strength as their physical attacks. In fact, all of the bosses are basically equally tough, varying only in their magical strengths & weaknesses. They will continue to use ranged magic attacks unless someone with aggro is in melee range.
This means that the bosses in Valley of Disaster can be potentially tanked by arcane armor wearers using ranged attacks when their defense for that element is better than anyone else's physical defense (assuming that they have an average amount of HP or better.) The bosses are also strong in their element and weak to their opposition element. This means that, for example, a venomancer (not her pet, the venomancer herself) with decent equipment and HP might be a better tank against Gluttonix (the earth element boss) because he will be weak to wood magic, which is a venomancer specialty, making her better able to keep aggro as well.
Zimo
Zimo is a spider lady, who has both a physical and a ranged attack. She wanders around on top of a hill. She is very fast, so care should be taken when pulling her if you don't have a veno to do that.
Like all the bosses in 59 she will stay at range and use her magic attack, which has a slow and obvious channel, unless you walk right up to her - but she won't try to kite you.
Ofotis
Ofotis lives down in a pit and thus must be lured out. He's slow moving so this doesn't present a problem.
Like all the bosses in 59 he will stay at range and use his magic attack, which has a slow and obvious channel.
Qianji
Qianji is primarily annoying because she starts in a patch of water - which is deep enough that you can get the damage reduction effect. Luring her out of the water is recommended.
Like all the bosses in 59 she will stay at range and use her magic attack, which has a slow and obvious channel.
Raving Drake Brute
Note: The lava is perfectly safe to walk on - however if the boss ends up on it then it is very hard to see his channel.
He uses a burn debuff, making him very easy to tank if you have a cleric.
Like all the bosses in 59 he will stay at range and use his magic attack, which has a slow and obvious channel.
Gluttonix
Gluttonix hits as hard as the others, but mainly you need to be careful of some very very fast moving archer mobs near him.
