Duplicate Images[edit]
One point about duplicate images - there are some images used by multiple different in game items / skills.
Would it be sensible to keep those as duplicates, to make it easier on us if/when they change the in-game icons? --Vitenks (talk) 10:09, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- In my opinion, no. So far the only icon I've ever seen change was the Guardian Angel when they changed it to Guardian Scroll, so the object's name changed too. Besides that, using a single image means less wasted storage space on the server and possibly less bandwidth use by not sending different copies of the same image. The other advantage is that we use the best copy of that image on all pages, since some images are not as good as their duplicate. Thus, I think the benefits of eliminating duplicates outweighs the small and unlikely risk of an icon change. -- Sangodoc (talk) 02:56, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I also left the comment below in the "Status Icon Reference Guide" page. I see the difference in the Icons but think the pages should be linked.
I would like to know where to find the Mystical Tome Icons.

- The problem with that is that PWDB uses 8-bit GIFs, when the original icon images are 24-bit. This means that the PWDB versions often won't look as good due to the color depth loss. What I do to get the images is use PWPack.exe to decompress the images in some of the data files (usually surfaces.pck) and then search for them in there. In this case, they're all in two massive image sets, one male (surfaces/iconset/iconlist_ivtrm.dds) and one female icon image (surfaces/iconset/iconlist_ivtrf.dds). Then I copy the relevant part(s) out of those images and save them as 24-bit PNG images. If you want, I can convert those image sets into two images and upload them here. The only reason I haven't already done that is that they change periodically. Just let me know need me to upload them here. -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 15:50, 20 August 2011 (PDT)
