Rename to Damage Calculation? --Asterelle 00:01, 24 February 2011 (PST)
- Yeah, I was thinking something like "Damage Equations", but "Damage Calculation" is probably better. Or do you think should we make it more general, so it better includes equations for things other than damage? -- Sangodoc - PWI wiki mod (talk) 13:42, 24 February 2011 (PST)
Constant Damage[edit]
Please explain what "constant damage" is in the skill damage equation. -- Conner2950 04:23, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- Most skills do like "base damage + 100% weapon attack + 4000" damage. The constant added damage will be the third term there. --Asterelle 22:16, 31 May 2011 (PDT)
Damage Taken equation[edit]
if (attack level < defense level) then:
damage taken = { damage delivered / ( 1 + (1.2 * ({ defense level } - { attack level }) / 100 ) ) }
Why is the 1.2 not a 1? -- Conner2950 05:00, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- The way it is programmed into the game is with a 1.2. 1 will give you the wrong answer while 1.2 is exact.--Asterelle 22:16, 31 May 2011 (PDT)
Attack Speed Calculation[edit]
I know there are only specific attack speeds that the character info box shows, but I suspect that these are not actually the accurate in game attack rates when coupled with demon spark. Does anyone know the equation that perfect world uses to find attack rate while demon spark is in effect? Archer Attack Speed Basics has a chart of attack speeds. It also gives these equations: 1/Attack Speed = Attack Duration 1/Attack Duration = Attack Speed
My concern is with demon spark's +25% attack speed. At first, I thought an attack speed of 2 aps would become 2.5 aps, but it is actually 2.86 on character screen. I then thought that it might be a 25% reduction in interval between attacks. This would give me an attack speed of 2.67. 2.67 is closer to 2.86 than it is to 2.5 and that might be why it shows up that way.
I then tested it on a base of 3.33 aps. A 25% reduction in interval would give 4.44aps. 4.44 is closer to 4aps than 5 aps, but shows up as 5aps on character screen.
This is why I assume there may be a more complex equation, but I'm not sure. -- Conner2950 16:05, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Dexterity Multiplier[edit]
Seems to me the Dex part in the "Attack Modifier" should be augmented (Dex-1)/150. Thus far my observation is based only on the character sheet but using this I get an exact match, not just close. Anyone care to check this?
As an aside: I'm just getting into PW theory, so this is my Hello I guess. Hopefully this is still active and people discuss it. Alethea -- Bluedragon06 23:29, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
- I just tested this now. My base damage is 15059 - 20400 with 481 dex and 75% demon mastery. Demon sparked I am 30239 - 40965, so +500% weapon attack is 15180 - 20565. Dividing by 5 my weapon attack is 3036 - 4113.
- (1 + 481/150 + .75) * 3036 = 15048
- (1 + 481/150 + .75) * 4113 = 20387
- After playing around with my gear it seems the 481/150 term is rounded to 2 decimals, so 481/150 = 3.20666 = 3.21
- (1 + 3.21 + .75) * 3036 = 15059
- (1 + 3.21 + .75) * 4113 = 20400
- You only see this rounding if your dex is not divisible by 3. Heh interestingly the first way I saw this formula was more correct since it said ((2*Dex)/3) / 100. I'll make a note of the rounding thanks for bringing it up. --Asterelle 07:53, 25 August 2011 (PDT)
- Gaining a level I was able to test this further and I definitely agree with the 2 digit rounding. And naturally you won't notice it when the number is divisible by 3 since it will be exact. --Bluedragon06 01:59, 1 September 2011 (PDT)
Evasion & Accuracy[edit]
The subject people seems to steer far far away from, yet is so important. The data I have collected thus far suggest the equation given is a bust. The real one shouldn't be too far off but I need some more info from different levels. Surprisingly that did work decently well for my hit %, but it seems to be a coincidence. I presume the original author was around my level. However, it quickly falls apart when checking evasion rates vs mobs, esp of high and low level. That author made a distinct mistake assuming that all mobs have the same accuracy.--Bluedragon06 02:23, 1 September 2011 (PDT)
- I don't know much about evasion and accuracy and never tested that equation someone provided (that's why its marked unconfirmed). If you find something better than feel free to replace it. --Asterelle 22:28, 3 September 2011 (PDT)
