Question

Since you seem to be on now, I'll ask you a few things. How much exactly are we allowed to modify other people's guides here? I get the feeling that these guides 'belong' to their writers and we aren't allowed to change them too much. (Other wikis have a rule that you can't sign on the page itself or write the article from a first person perspective, to give the impression it's not owned by anyone.) Some guides overlap in content; are we allowed to cut out the 'good' part of one guide, make it into a separate page, and remove all its duplicates? Guides

How are we going to categorise guides? The current 'big fat warning' doesn't seem very polite, but on the other hand you don't want new players sent away with lies.

The problem is that a guide is at least 80% opinion, which is kinda hard to merge together.

And on a side note: Rare pets. Can we please just delete 90% of these guides? They're identical, just copy and pasted from ecatomb. --Vitenka (There's one named Click Here for goodness sakes, that at least needs a rename)

(Re reply on my user page): That makes sense, it could also set up a standard format. Something like "Normal role" "Builds" "Skills" and a biiiig section for individual thoughts and comments (much like the current forum stickes)

Deleting articles

I'm not sure how to mark an article for deletion here, but "Image talk:Wizard.jpg" should probably be deleted. Someone just wrote "hi" there and that's it. -- Sangodoc (talk) 06:00, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to request the deletion of the Coztumess an avatar´ page. Yameidalys (talk) posted a question here as a new wiki page. I posted a message on his talk page directing him to use the forum for questions, but I would like to see that page deleted since it is of no use to anyone (not to mention misspelled and practically unintelligible :-P ). Vandalism

The user Gianna87 (talk | contribs) replaced the Image:Barbarian.jpg image with a picture of (most likely) herself, and then replaced that image with a picture of an anus. I reverted the image, but some sort of ban or something needs to be done, because the image appeared on the front page of the wiki, and right now there's nothing preventing her from doing it again. New Templates

Hey, Eatwithspoons. I'm making a few new templates for the wiki right now. I've already made Template:Stub for marking articles as stubs and Template:ReqDelete for requesting the deletion of articles. Items marked with the {{Stub}} or {{ReqDelete|reason=Your reason.}} tags will be listed on the Category:Stubs or Category:Proposed_deletion pages, respectively. So you might want to check the Category:Proposed_deletion periodically for pages that should probably be deleted (I marked a few already.) I'm going to make a few more templates (like "Opinion", "May be inaccurate", etc.), so if you have any other templates you think I should make, let me know.
Also, I'm still somewhat limited in what I can do with templates until we have the ParserFunctions extension added to this wiki. The wiki software is also over a year out of date, which may cause some problems *cough*securityvulnerabilities*cough*. I highly recommend updating the wiki and adding at least the ParserFunctions extension. Thanks.  :-) -- Sangodoc (talk) 06:00, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for putting in a(nother) request for the wiki to be updated and extensions to be added. Hopefully someone will realize how important it is to keep up to date on software running on their servers. However, you didn't comment on the templates I mentioned above or delete any of the items now listed on the Category:Proposed_deletion page. I would appreciate some feedback on the notice templates (how they look, what other ones you want to see, etc...), and since I just added an image that appears to be copyrighted material, you might want to take care of the proposed deletion list too.
