Waspkin (pet group)
As all venomancers come to know, there are three types of pets: land, water and air. Among the air pets that you can obtain are the waspkin, of which there are thirteen different tamable varieties.
What some people overlook however is that there are distinctions between these waspkin besides just their aesthetics. Despite there being thirteen kinds of waspkin to capture, there exists three separate species, with many different waspkin being tied to each one. Each species has their own growth chart that makes them stronger in certain areas as they advance in levels.
It is important to note that if you're looking for a certain type of pet to suit your needs, you need to pay attention to their species if there is a vast amount of a certain type of monster. In this case we're looking at waspkin.
The following article will detail the different species of waspkin and the different kinds available in that species category. For more information on the waspkin themselves, consult the Ultimate Pet List for guidance or the included pet group links.
Blue Waspkin Group[edit]
See also: Blue Waspkin (pet group)
The blue waspkin group consist of five different wasps. As you can see from the picture above, the blue waspkin icon represents its species. These pets serve, as the graph shows you, as decent damage dealers, better than most of any other pet you'll find in the game that isn't a Baby Hercules or Phoenix. If you're looking for something to use in PvP or just want something that hits hard, a blue waspkin might be for you.

- 1.^ Note that there are members of both the blue waspkin species and the yellow waspkin species named "Desert Waspkin". The blue one is green and starts at level 20, while the yellow one is reddish and starts at level 12.
Yellow Waspkin Group[edit]
See also: Yellow Waspkin (pet group)
Yellow waspkin make up the most populous group in PWI, offering six different waspkin for you to tame. The yellow waspkin icon identifies them in the picture above. Their stat chart shows that this species is geared towards slightly higher bulk and evasiveness, while still retaining some decent attack power. They're well-rounded wasps good for PvE, but if you're a seasoned veno you might turn a few heads PK'ing with a pretty green bug.

Gray Waspkin Group[edit]
The last group of wasps are the gray waspkin. There are only two in this species, and they both look similar to each other. The gray waspkin icon in the above picture shows the symbol for this species, which the graph shows has sacrificed evasiveness for magical bulk. You might use these wasps for air tanking, or if you want a pet that can take a few more hits than most so you have more time to heal it. They're better at PvE, not so much PvP, so keep that in mind.

Other Information[edit]
According to most folk, pets of the same species end up being more powerful if you catch and level the lowest level version available instead of higher ones. For instance, a Petite Sawfly might end up with higher stats at level 100 than the Desert Hornet would, even though they share the same growth chart. While it's not much of a step up above the higher level versions, its still something to consider if you're not picky about what your pet looks like. The plus side to capturing higher level versions though is that more often than not, a higher level will have more skills, and similar skills at an increased level. A Petite Sawfly might end up having higher attack, but it starts with a level 1 bash, where as the Desert Hornet starts with level 3.
It all comes down to what you prefer. Air pets are generally harder and more time consuming to level, so you might want to score for a higher level wasp if you don't mind its stats suffering a little.
Another thing to note is when fighting with a wasp, try to do so from the air. Often times they get stuck in the ground when fighting on a raised hill or mountain, and it becomes difficult to order them around, since they'll effectively be doing nothing.
