Lumi's Guide to Psychics
| Page is still under construction. |
Hi all!!! My in game name is Luminiara (Lumi), as commonly known by my Cleric on the Heaven's Tear server. :) I am making this guide today after seeing a lot of psychic bashing in the forums, and therefore felt compelled to clear a few things up. :P First things first; yes, there will be a Table of Contents, because in my experience, psychics can do a lot more than just DD given the proper use. :P
By the way, this page will be worked on for a little while so if it is not complete by the time you arrive here, please feel free to ask me any questions about this class by searching for my name on the forums; :) it is "araxinea".
A Psychic's Build (What is Most Common and What You'd Prefer)[edit]
All psychic users have 3 choices as to what kind of performance they want from their class, and that depends on the build. There is the Pure Mage build, The Hybrid Build, and the Light Armor Build.
Pure Mage Build
- This build is an option for every magic using class and is very common to have for the end of the game. For every level, you put 1 stat point into Strength, and 4 points into Magic. Keep doing this until you reach 55 strength points. Then jus put 5 points on magic.
This build gives you the most damage output, but very little survivability.
The Hybrid Build
- This build is most common during the start and middle of a psychic's levels; 1 Vitality, 1 Strength, and 3 Magic. I highly suggest using this build until you have around 50 Vitality or maybe even a little bit less especially if you plan on using Citrine gems in the future. This build is very nice, giving you a lot more survivability during the lower levels when you're usually on your own. (Don't worry, you're still the fastest channeling and one of the highest hitting magic classes in the game. ;) )
The Light Armor Build
- This build is rare to see, and if anything, is used for PvP instead of PvE. Every level, you put 1 point into Strength, 1 into Dexterity, and 3 into Magic. A high level psychic with Light Armor is something to be afraid of in duels with any sort of class; as they have more balanced defenses, still very hard hitting, and let's not forget those lovely criticals that could knock an enemy off their butt if they aren't careful. :P
For those who are new to the game, remember that whichever build you have, you can use certain gems, tomes, and gear to make up for what you've lost, as well as refinements that make your armor and weapon that much better. :)
Skills[edit]
This section, instead of giving you a list, there is a way better site to look at all of the different classes skills; including psychics. http://www.ecatomb.net <-- This link will give you everything you need to know about gear, tomes, different character levels... everything. So enjoy. :P
PvE[edit]
A psychic in PvE is pretty much untouchable, especially with that White Voodoo or Psychic Will if things get too rough. :P The first thing to remember is the debuffs you have which are immobilization, stunning, slowed movement, reflect, silencing, and even interrupted or slowed channeling. :) Use them wisely and you can kill a monster before it even touches you. ^.^
PvP[edit]
FYI, psychics are the trolls of PvP r.r" Psychics have more personal buffs than any other class in the game, and again, they can adjust their own build in a second with Black Voodoo and White Voodoo. My advice is to just experiment with duels as much as you can, same with any class :) There are many different strategies to choose from with a psychic.
Squads for the Psychic[edit]
Psychics definitely can have a role in squads, their ailments can be very nice, as well as helping the cleric and much more. :) In lower level Bounty Hunter squads, new clerics can have a hard time healing everyone at the same time, so a psychic's Bubble of Life can help a lot with that IH and instant HP regeneration. Even in Forgotten Frostland, a psychic can pretty much fill in a BM's role with the mobs by stunning, freezing in succession, and then finishing them off. As well, other than most magic classes, psychics have the ability to choose whether they take aggro or not (and survive it!) with their Black and White Voodoo.
Useful Genie Skills[edit]
Most people have at least a couple of genies at their disposal, each with different skill sets for different situations :) In my experience with genies, I have always made them a hybrid build between Magic and Vitality. It makes your genie regenerate stamina quicker and you have more to use... therefore you can use skills more often at any one time. Strength and Dexterity don't really give that much of a boost to the skills, and it hurts you in the long run when you're in a tight situation and you're out of stamina.
For PvE and PvP; I recommend Extreme Poison, Relentless Courage, Holy Path, Tree of Protection, Cloud Eruption, and Absolute Domain.
